Molly question
A few days ago, the heater in my 29 gallon aquarium failed. I was not home at the time, and the temperature plunged to 70 degrees. I don't know how long it was that low, but I only lost one fish, my male molly. I am sad for losing him, he was beautiful, but I'm glad my other fish are ok, the temp is now back up to 78. It seems a miracle I lost none of my other fish. Even my neons are ok.
The thing is, I am pretty sure I will not replace him. I have two female mollies, one looks to be pregnant. The other one may be early or not pregnant. How long can these fish hold sperm? How many pregnancies am I looking at here? I want to be prepared. Thanks. BTW I heard somewhere that lyretails are sterile, but that can't be true can it? He was the only male I had. |

Most livebearers can go anywhere from 1-8 pregnancies with one fertilization.
