When I first setup the 125g tank, it sat for quite a while with no fish while I was letting it settle in and getting it aquascaped and planted. I got some plants from a friend (Ingg) that must've had eggs on it, because still long before I put any fish in the tank I found 3 fry swimming in the tank. I moved them out of the 125 and into my 20g RCS tank, figuring they'd be safer there based on my stocking plans for the 125. This was all last March or April.
Well, the 3 fry turned out to be Praecox Rainbowfish, 2 males and 1 female, I raised them on Hikari First bites, then transitioned them to the normal foods I feed my other tanks. They've done quite well, great color and great growth. As I'm in the process of setting up my first SW tank, I intend to take the 20 down, and for weeks now I've been saying to myself it's time to catch them and transition them into the 125 where they'll live, but have just not gotten around to actually doing it.
Well, last night as I was feeding them, I found at least 3 fry in the tank, couldn't have been more than 48 hours old as tiny as they were. The tank is very heavily planted, so there's no telling how many of them there actually are, but at least 3 were visible at one time.
Too small for pics, obviously, but it was a nice surprise to find them.
