the female ate all the eggs, shortly after this video...but it was still very cool to happen to walk by at the right moment and capture it.

This might happen a couple of times after they've spawned. But give it some time and at a certain moment they'll leave those eggs alone. And once they're fertilized, sufficient offsping you'll have...

The eating of the eggs happens often with fish which spawn for the first time...

i have two females and one male in this 20 gallon long. each of the females have now had one spawn. the first time, the male ate all the eggs, second time the female. hoping that soon they will have a successful spawn.
