Nylon on filter to keep fry safe

You can buy fluval or generic equivalent foam pre-filters on amazon. I buy the generics - very cheap. The good thing about them is that you are creating another surface for beneficial bacteria. If you notice the flow of the filter slowing down, it is time to slide the foam off and give it a good squeeze in a bucket of tank water. The will get gunky quick. If you have an HOB filter and fry or shrimplets in the tank, a covering for the intake is a must.
