an Oscar

Just kidding obviously. Any peaceful herbivore would do fine I guess. Maybe some small plecos, otos, or shrimp (if you like shrimp)

Its a 10 gallon tall hex, so there isnt much room for cories. What about for the middle area? All the suggestions so far are bottom feeders.

Aside from bottom feeders, most fish would enjoy any tasty fry they can fit in their mouth :)

Um.....what KIND of fry??? It will make a difference!! If you're talking about Zebra Danios then there really isn't anything particularly safe except some of the 'bottom feeders' previously mentioned. Danio fry are REALLY tiny!!!

If its to be a "fry tank" why have anything it other than fry? Interesting plants, ghost shrimp and those pesty little snails..they have them in designer colors now ^_^.
My lfs guy doesn't even put daphnia in with fry (he had a whole spawn of gourami disappear in 2 days..the larger dapnia ate them).
I dunno....What kind of fish are tiny and herbivores?
