Platy babies

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!

If they are currently in your community tank and you want to separate them, purchase a little specimen box or an isolation net. Then feed them 2- 3 times a day with flakes that you have crushed up or grounded up in a mortar. At first they can only eat the powder stuff.

If there are any dead fry then remove them immediately. They will start to spread their fungus to other fry.

I also found that having a cheap dollar store turkey baster helps with the clean up within the specimen box. Or you can use an airline hose as siphon.

Just some quick thoughts. Anything specific your looking for?

Platys are very easy to take care of everything that Chizer has mentioned is perfect. But if you dont really want a explosion of fry then leave the prego mother in the tank and let them eat the babies or put them in a breeding net

If you do decide to leave them in the main community tank, you could purchase some hornwort plants. Hornworts (if it is not illegal in your area to have - you will not be able to buy it in the stores) is a floating plant and will thickly grow into a large mass. The fry will survive by eating the detrius that is attached to the plant.
