Platy fry

My tricolored platy just gave birth to about a 100 fry, I was looking at them when I see 1 black fry, the first I've ever had. Are black platy fry normal or do I have a rare platy?

That's a LOT of fry for a platy. Are you sure it is a platy and not a molly. I wouldn't say it's rare but i haven't seen many before. I'm not an expert on genetics but it could be carried in the bloodline of the fish and just happens occasionally, especially as she had 100. I could be completely wrong and as always, i stand corrected, just my opinion!!!. You'll probably get a flood of posts now stating the opposite..haha. Have you plans for the fry, that's some amount to look after!!!
