I have a six week old platy fry that was born in my 10gallon tank with three adult platies and four zebra danios. After he was born I put him into a 2.5 gallon tank.

I want to put him back in the 10 gallon, but I'm wondering when he will be "old enough" to be able to swim freely around the 10 gallon without being afraid for his life. Any fry that have been left in the 10 gallon after their birth don't make it past a week--they get eaten. But since he's six weeks old, could he be safe?
thanks :)

I have a fry thats about 6 weeks old in my tank, i never knew he was there, hes all white. Just make sure you have plenty of real or fake plants in the tank to allow him to hide. The fish don't go out of their way to chase him because they know hes no longer a tasty morsel.

I have some platy fry in my community tank, ranging from 1 to 4 weeks old...
Lots of plants to hide, but so far they seem to come out of hiding after 2-3 weeks,
and don't get bothered by the others. They seem to "know" when it's the right
time! smart little creatures :D
