K thanks and do you know how to tell the difference between a male or female.

From what i have found the males have a single stick looking projection and the females have small rounded fins. We are pretty new to all this though lol

It's very obvious in sexually mature platy or molly. It's quite large. The females are "chubbier" looking, more round. The males have that characteristic "male peacock" look to them. Puffed out, territorial. Typically always chasing something...my smallest black molly male LOVES my blue dwarf gourami male. Literally. They're boyfriends. It's cute.

My girl platies do that. They hang out together 24/7. And chase around the male lol.
