Pregnant tiger barb

Never bred these guys before. Is she pregnant or just getting bigger?

She looks like she's starting to carry eggs by the looks of it I'll give you an example of one of my barbs in a second who will be spawning soon

Awesome thank you. So wait a bit longer before putting her into the breeding tank?

Yeah from my experience the female tends to do like a head stand before she's about to lay but I'm not sure if that's a common thing or just for me

Gotcha. Do you do a separate tank for her when she does start

Yeah I put the male and female in there so he can fertilise the eggs them once that's done I move the male back to the community tank and a day or so later I put the female in a different tank again so she can rest up be aware they can lay up to something like 600-700 eggs
