now shes in the cave when do I know if she is ready to have the fry? Do they hide close to the time? or do they have them right there in the open? What should I be looking for?
BTW I did a PWC about 2 hrs ago.......... did not forget to add the prime and temp same.....
just tested the water and seams ok amonnia .25 ( I have amonnia in my tap water 1) nitrites 0....nitrates 20 ph 6.4 or 6.6..me and daughter always disagree, lol

She does look pregnant but not very close to giving birth. They get huge and the back end square off when they are close to giving birth. You platy probably came to you pregnant. If you have lots of hiding spots the fry should be ok. Mollies are notorious for eating fry, their own and others.

we got her about 30 days ago so if shes pregnant then it was from the store as I do not have a male platy we did have a male sword but he died about 3 weeks ago....so how long do they stay pregnant?
 
Well I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, female livebearer's can store sperm and have several batches of fry without any males. Generally they are pregnant for about a month. She could have fry within a couple of weeks and then do it all over again in a couple of months.

so then she can still have some but should be soon if we had her for about 30 days already right?:confused:
 
Same with my red wag platies, i had unexpected birth, at least 2 weeks ago, so i divided them up from the fry and platies and the other fish, so now they swimming happily.
