Selectively breeding guppies/ starting a strain.

Have a 5, 10 and 20 gallon. I'm thinking of buying a pair of guppies and breeding them in the 20 and the seep rating fry in my divided 10 as I only have a divider for the 10. I'm guessing I do this while culling the deformed and unwanted and breed the best of all of them and breed a good strain. Any help or advice.
