Have an air pump driven deep blue sponge filter in a 10 gallon fry tank.

The fry are 1 week old and free swimming.

After watching a couple of fry get tossed around when they neared the output tube of the sponge filter I added a valve to the air line to regulate the air pressure running through the sponge and reduce flow.

I'm a little concerned about the lack of flow and water quality.

Should I continue to keep the flow down through the valve.

Does extending the output tube closer to the surface assist with fry destruction and if so how might that affect water quality.

As the fry become more free swimming and more on their own I'm concerned I'll lose fry to the flow coming out of the filter tube.

I am doing water changes twice a day, as soon as I get up in the am and right before I go to bed....

Also - I do run a small airstone inside the filter, so the bubbles coming out of the tube are pretty small.

How do you set up your sponge filters with fry?
