Unhappy Spots on filter tube

Hi there,

I have posted a picture of the spots I just discovered on my filter intake tube. I have 2 large(r) angel fish, 6 neon tetra's, 2 red tetra's, 5 red eye tetra's, 2 small catfish and a plecko in my 45 gallon tank. All PH/temp/ etc appears to be OK. Anyone know what these spots might be??

Any advice really appreciated.

Thanks,

Based on the location, there's a descent possibility that they are Angelfish eggs.

I agree with Purr. It looks like Angel eggs.

That's my guess too. I've seen others' pictures of angelfish eggs and I would say that's what you have.

Here is a pic of angel eggs that were laid on the Mag Float. The circled part is the eggs that had started to free-swim:

Angel eggs

Cool. (I think). Is there a fighting chance that these eggs with become fry? Is there a way to protect them? Will the parents and/or other fish eat them??

I'd love to try and and raise a few if possible.

Thanks again for your responses!

Yes, there is definitely a chance the eggs will become fry. Remove the filter tube from the tank and put it in its own seperate tank or container. Put an airstone under the tube to keep a constant flow of water over the eggs to prevent fungus. Eventually you'll see a little black speck on each egg then some will start to wiggle free. The adults and other fish will eat the eggs.
