I have a Neon or Green swordtail adult, raised from birth, female. I was given a Red spotted male swordtail. He is older I was told several years old to 5. He was the last of his kind in a tank of fish I was given.
At first there were so many plants it was like a jungle so the two didn't really notice each other. I took out a bunch of plants. Now he occasionally chases her around. What is the chance they have would have mated, should I separate them. If they breed, what would the babies look like, some of each, like the mom and dad or some crazy mixed up colors?
Never had Swordtails before, never really planned on keeping them either. How long till I would see babies. The green female has a dark spot all the time near where the gravid spot is, for example on a guppy.
She doesn't seem really dark there like she is far along or even preggo. Maybe it is too soon.
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!
