This is not what I need...2 pregnant otto's?

I think the 2 otto's I got the other day are pregnant....let me get a pic for everyone to help me to determine this or not..although It would be REALLY neat to see my otto's breeding...I dont need any more fish in my tiny 10gall

Aw, send them to me!!! BAYBEE OTOS!!!! Well, they're either gravid or just well-fed and healthy. Either way it's a good thing.

When buying otos, the best way to do it is buy the fattest ones only. This means they are the most healthy. I've never had any oto deaths when purchasing, as I'm picky about which ones I get. Takes the lfs time to get the ones I want, but I've never had any die. But I've heard so many horror stories from people why buy the skinny, scrawny ones. Usually it means something MIGHT be wrong with them.

Just don't tell your doctor this, FAT=HEALTHY. lol

Oto's are egg layers, meaning they do not get pregnant.

Happy, healthy, well-fed ottos usually have a rounded belly.

Exactly what I was thinking. Maybe the female is plump with eggs though?

this is what I meant..I knew they diddnt have live babbies... but their bellies are both a little black..and very plump I mean I would love it if they had babbies but I think that would kill my bio-load ...

Don't worry, your bio-load won't be in danger, since breeding otos in captivity has only been reported a few times, and any eggs will probably be eaten rather quickly... And, if you have 2 gravid females, there won't be any males around to fertilise, right?
Still, congrats on the oto's, they're nice fish and yours sound healthy!
