I have a larger male convict and smaller female I got about 4 months ago. They seemed to do well together in my community tank. I noticed the female who is about 1.5 to 2" started looking a little fat lately. I went out of town for the day and came home this morning to an unexpected surprise. Is there anything special I should do?

congrats! I believe all cichlids take care of their young themselves.

Thank you. The only thing that worries me is that I have 2 full grown jack dempseys in the same tank. I was thinking of waiting until they hatch and putting them in a separate tank.

I currently have 5 tanks set up and think I should use one of them just for fry. At what age do the get returned to a community tank?
