young swordtails

my swordtails are 4 months old now, about 1 3/4 in
2 males have a very small tail , maybe 1/2 in long.
when are the males ready to breed? i already have fully grown females.

Once they have their gonopodium they should be able .
I have always thought the slower developing males were better breeders over the long run.
The huge alphas piss out pretty quick. Just like they grow ?

Agreed I wouldn't breed either one. I found a male the other day with no sword and he is huge! I had to have him!!!
