zebra danios (glofish) eggs
Last night i put 1 female and 1 male glofish in a breeder thingy and fed them bloodworms (in addition to their normal meal that day). This morning, about 2 hours after the lights clicked on, i checked and had about 20 or 30 eggs. The female was noticably slimmer.
I put the eggs in a 1/2g betta bowl and have it floating in my sump (with no light). Hopefully in a few days i'll have some fry! I'll keep this thread updated over the next few days. -David

I thought glofish were all non-fertile. Wasn't that part of the agreement about releasing them or something? Eaither that or it was something like 1 out 100 are fertile....

OK, looked it up,
Females are something like 50% less fertile and males are 90%. They don't sell glofish in oregon. But my brother in Montana has a few. He also has 4 angel fish that have an 8" span too... He gets all the luck

Yea, from what i understand, the glofish that i recieve are not altered in any way except for the gene that makes them red. This was partly an experiment to see if i could raise glofish.
I'm pretty sure glofish are fertile. We'll just have to see.

I'm also almost sure they are fertile. They are not hybrids, they're genetically modified to glow, just look at the glofish website. They are not a harm to the environment because flourescent proteins (what makes glofish glow) occur in the wild.

36 hours after egg harvesting, still only one fry. I had a look at the other eggs and i guess they just didnt get fertilized. Tonight i'm giving my other female a try.
I also started brewing some infusoria for the little guy.

update on my fry (singular):
it's about 6mm total length. Still feeding infusoria. I'm in the process of setting up a small grow out tank for him with corner filter, airstone, heater, etc. As of now, he's just chillin in my sump (which is off).
