Apologies if this is in the wrong place.

Is there any reason why there are so many adverts displayed? Sometimes its a pain trying to find 1 line replies amongst all the bumf, and they take up so much room on the page. Is there anyway I can switch them off, I want to learn about fish, not be directed to top 10 washing machines.
Thank you

Yep. Go to User CP > Edit Options. Then, where you see "Show Less Ads", check the box beside "Remove the Sponsor Ads at th top of the Forums/Discussions"

Just remember, membership is free because of those ads... The AA Supporter badge gives you the ability to turn the majority of them off (as you'll notice once you do), but there will still be a few.

Also under the edit options area in the User CP, you can turn off the right column if you wish. It is the last option on that page. This will remove the right column interface, along with those ads. The posts will then stretch out some so the pages aren't so long.

While the ads can be cumbersome, they allow the site to operate, as rookie pointed out. Becoming a supporting member does eliminate most of the inline ads, except the main banner at the top of each page.
