help...my inbox is over flowing

how do i stop the automatic e-mails everytime someone posts something on this site? i would just like to receive notification when someone replies to my posts, not every new reply and post. thanks for your help. ( i think that i have over 300+ e-mails from this site! )

Update your profile--there's a box somewhere that you checked that sends e-mails to you.

not every new reply and post
Our software doesn't do that. If you subscribe to a forum, you'll get emails of every new topic, but the only reply emails you'll get are if you reply to the topic (and your settings indicate to automatically subscribe you to the thread), or if you click the link at the bottom of the post....Watch this topic.

Go to each forum and look for a link (usually in the bottom left corner under the reply button, but depending on style used, it could be in another corner, for a link that says "stop watching this forum", and click it. If the link sayd "Watch this forum" do not click it. Go through each forum you receive new topic notifications for. Alternately, and easiest, is to click the link in the bottom of the email that says...

If you no longer wish to watch this forum you can either click the "Stop watching this forum link" found at the bottom of the "Saltwater & Reef - Getting Started" forum, or by clicking the following link:

After you have unchecked all the "watch this forum" go to your profile by clicking on the "Update your profile" link on the home page and uncheck the box that says:

"Always notify me of replies:
Sends an e-mail when someone replies to a topic you have posted in. This can be changed whenever you post."

This will stop automaticly subscribing you to topics in which you reply.

As Kevin said our software will only send you new topic e-mails if you have specificly subscribed to the forum. We as admins are subscribed to nearly every forum on this site and I can tell you we dont even get 300+ emails a day from this site.

In addition you can tell what type of message by the subject line.

E-mails from forums that are subscribed will look like this "New Topic Notification for forum..." Where as e-mails from topics you have replyed to or subscribed to will look like this "Topic Reply Notification -..."

Only 1 e-mail for any new topic will be sent* and only 1 reply for any watched topic will be sent*.

* Until you visit that topic again.

Thanks. For a larger version look in the MagFeeder sponsor forum under the I just ordered two thread. She is wearing an outfit my sister got her. I think its all baby gap stuff. And she loves red things so I showed her the magfeeder and she reached for it right away and held it out like that while we was dressing her.
