Help with ipad app

Ipad app acting strange. Typically bottom 1/3 of page (always the third near the home button) is dead, regardless of orientation. Does not do this when typing a message or on any other app. Anyone else experience this?

I noticed that I could only use this app on an iPad if it was in either portrait or landscape mode (can't recall exactly) but not both. Buttons would be disabled. Not sure why.
