It means what it says and it's an option you can check in your profile.

It makes you hidden so others cannot tell when you are online. Either in the Online/offline deisgnation in the posts or in the who's on line feature on the main forum page.

Some people select hidden cause they think it offers them some kind of anonymoty. Others use it so they dont get hammered with a ton of messages while they are online.

Either way us admins can see when folks are online regarless of their hidden or unhidden status.
