apparently the one for typing in all caps isn't working as well ;)

Which appelet isn't working? What are you trying to access? Are you running windows XP? Do you have Java installed? What browser are you using? Do you have java enabled? Do you know where your caps lock key is? (It's third from the bottom on the far left of your keyboard, please turn it off before you type the answers to these questions.)

Computer has javascript disabled and java is not installed. Thats why at the bottom of the chat page we tell folks to go install java.

This is a quote directly from the chat page before the java applet

If you're experencing problems with the java applet you may need to download and install Sun Microsystems Java for windows. For more information on how to test if your system has java support please follow the Troubleshooting java link.

Note: If you have Windows XP you may need to click on the link below to verify that you have java support installed. Microsoft left java support out of Windows XP but you can easily add it back in by following the directions in the link below.

We also have an entire page devoted to troubleshooting the java applet if your having issues.

IMO Sun Java sucks. Do a google search for MS virtual machine. You will find the Microsoft version of Java. Actually that is also made by Sun, but it was before MS and Sun got into a little spat.
