you're absolutely right! Can't believe I was that blind.
Don't some smaller eclipse's also have the heater built into the hood/filter compartment? If so, figure in the cost of a heater as well as the filter.

Not that I know of. I've had a 5g, 6g, 12g, and 37g and none of them came with the heater. Still, if you are planning on replacing the filter and lights on an Eclipse tank, whats the point of paying the extra money for one in the first place?

Maybe I'm trying to combine features from tetra filters (which I know some can hold this little tetra brand heater) with eclipse.

But yeah, why spend your hard earned money on an overpriced hood that you're just going to shelve or tear apart during a retro-fit.
