Thanks for your reply i have managed to get info and told that my nitrates are not so important and also added some type of rock to my tank that has raised my hp to aprox 7.4 now so things are looking up

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you quicker I was away from the computer. I have kept cichlids in the past but it was just to please my wife. I'm afraid I wont be much help to you on the FW side of things. Sorry.

Hello have jioned to get help with my aquarium please
i have purchased an api fresh water test kit
found that my nitrates are high something like 60ppm and wanted to bring this down but apon testing my tap water that also is reading the same,not sure what to do.
Also need to raise my ph which is presently at 6.8 i keep cichlids and want to know the best way to bring it up have read that lime stone chippings is a good idea can some one advise.
I am very new to keeping fish and now just starting to realy enjoy it as one of my cichlids has just had about 5 babies woooohooooo which im happy about as you can tell.
