It's a picture of my bichir (only one currently), he's a long finned breed. He's a Polypterus Palmas Long fin, most common bichirs are of the Polypterus Senegalus...depending on his coloring he's probably either a common (grey) bichir or some breed of an ornate, they also breed albino bichirs. They are a fish from the nile river area and africa. They can survive out of water for a while (i've heard two days...seems a bit much, but they do have a primitive set of lungs, much like a lungfish). They are a great fish, they do get large, probably about 12-16" for an adult depending on sex and tank size...males are usually shorter and fatter, females tend to be long and slender and larger.
