shrimps and clams

Hi everyone,

today at the supermarket I bought two little cans of shrimp and baby clams. Won't help telling you which brand because I live in Italy and it's an Italian product. I wonder if you get the same kind of stuff over in the US, but they're supposed to be 'natural', meaning the only added ingriedents are water (in which the product floats), sugar, salt and citric acid, no preservatives or coloring.

Do you think these would be safe to use as fish food?

Probably, but the sugar may fuel algae growth. If possible use fresh raw seafood ;)

I will give them a nice wash to get rid of any unwanted substance.
I'll give it a try. I'm just not sure about freezing this stuff (there's about 100 shrimps in the can and they go bad 4 days after opening) as it may be processed from originally frozen food.

I would think that with a cooked foods, the animals will have a very hard time digesting it and I would also be concerned about preservatives in addition to what RR said.

You may wish to have a look at this as an alternative. >>ReefLady's Blender Mush<<

Cheers
