Have u checked ur phosphates? I had that problem with diatoms and adding phosphate remover to my filter worked.

are you using RO/DI water? big water changes will usually bring them down but still need to find the root cause

One of the big causes of diatoms is silicates that come from using tap water. I work at a water treatment plant and know that is added to treat water.

Would this be a suitable unit ?

mr_X 03-15-2011 06:05 AM

no. you want a R.O.D.I., not just a R.O.

Aquarium Water | Reverse Osmosis | RODI Water | ReefKeeper Water | Compact III 75GPD with DI Bypass Assembly and TDS Meter

Why wouldn't a RO unit do it and I really have nit got that kind of money I could afford an RO unit but not RODI :/

Is this any good ?

I would save your money and buy a 4 stage RO/DI when you can rather tahn buy that and later want to buy a RO/DI.
