Shrimp

Will a Siamese fighting fish or zebra danio attack shrimp

Sake 05-16-2012 05:33 AM

My zebra danio leave my ghost shrimp alone, but if there were any baby shrimp they'd eat them. As far as the betta goes, it all depends on the betta. Some people have no problems, some people have issues right away, and others don't have problems for a bit then all of a sudden their betta went on a killing spree. What kind of shrimp are you looking? Is this going to be a planted tank?

If you had a heavily planted tank it may work depending on your betta, if the shrimp had a place to hide from it. Then again they would always be hiding I think so it kind of defeats the purpose of having shrimp. If you really wanted to try it, I'd get one shrimp for a month or so and see how your betta reacts to it. If it survives, try a few more and hope for the best, but remember at any point in time your betta may go on a killing spree and be very well fed for a day.

Yeah. Both my bettas are in with shrimp. My 20g doesn't bother the shrimp but mostly ghostly in my 5g will go after them if I miss a day or two feeding him. He hasn't picked any off yet but I am still leary about him:/ I agree with above get one or two and see how it goes:/
