Weekend purchases etc, what did you do?

So... I had a busy weekend.

Rivercats is sending over a nice package of plants.

Pulled the trigger and bought this for the 75 gallon African cichlid tank.
http://www.truaqua.com/uv-sterilizer...nal-uvp13.html

Also made a nice purchase from JetaJockey's site http://www.peabodysparadise.com/shop/

Then... Bought this bad boy for the planted tank
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003SJ...r=8-10&pi=SL75

Picked up 2 plants to get me started. Mixed all the ferts so everything is ready. Stocked up on peroxide, root tabs and distilled water.

Tested water in planted tank and water change in the 75 gallon African tank.

I think that's it....

Phranque 04-15-2013 10:10 AM

Hmmm......

Picked up a sweet deal on a 46g bow-front w/stand, hood and dual T5HO on Saturday..... intent was to upgrade my FW from a 29g, and thought about maybe trying CO2 planted. As soon as my wife saw it, the first thing out of her mouth was "That'd make a nice FOWLR for the fish you wanted but couldn't put in your 28g nano....." D@mn you, woman.... you're right!!! :banghead:

Picked up a few mexican turbos for my nano. Over the past couple of months I got really busy at work, the nano maintenance suffered a little, and I got a red turf algae outbreak. I got it under control where is wasn't spreading, but I couldn't get it to go away..... put those in there, and they went at it!!! I've already got a couple of rocks that are perfectly clean....

simplicitysarah 04-15-2013 09:51 PM

bought the finnex fuge ray that I've been wanting!!!
bought dry ferts!

Samphotog 04-15-2013 10:23 PM

I got two GBRs and two more Emerald cories. They're in QT for a few weeks. I also got a pair of boesemani rainbows directly from, what was basically, a 4 month QT at my good LFS. He let them have the tank to themselves (plus two other females) cause he's a big fan of them. I'm hoping they'll breed so he can have another male if he wants it. They went into my main tank after acclimating for a few hours

Alyxx 04-16-2013 01:15 AM

Got two female Bettas on aquabid, they should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. Also picked one up locally since I got lucky and found a really nice one at Walmart. Don't run into crowntail females there very often. Shipped some baby marbled crayfish to jess1ca today, too.

Some awesome purchases everyone. I see I wasn't alone lol.

How do you like the light? Post a pic if ya can. That was my second choice for my tank. I just couldn't find a 20" fixture.

Rare 04-16-2013 07:28 AM

Bought the all glass megaflow model 4 sump for the big tank & stayed away from c.list and e-bay for the rest of the weekend.

Riot84 04-16-2013 07:33 AM

Got 4 ottos for my 26 gal livebearer tank, feeders for my Oscar, and paint for the back of the 37 gal sw I'm setting up. Also did my weekly water changes, moved the 26 to make room for the 37 and painted the 37 but those aren't purchases. :P

vicdad999999 04-16-2013 09:31 AM

bought a tank only 120 4x2x2 for 40 bucks sunday.

gravereaper0 04-16-2013 09:47 AM

Went to the Chicago chiclid association swap meet on Sunday, got a 10 gallon tank as a resevoir for the ATO for 5 buks, books on planted aquarium plants, some pellet food, root tabs, and an awesome piece of driftwood that you can see in the new acquisitions forum. Later that day got a kessil a150w light with the gooseneck. Wanted 2 but the wife says I spent enough already, so gonna get the other one next weekend. :P

Bought a gorgeous little frontosa, a five bar, 2 ahlis, and hubby bought me a catfish as a surprise. :) the frontosa is a doll, shy, but my favorite of the group.
Oh, and we picked up a 150 gallon pond liner To start putting in. :)

vicdad999999 04-16-2013 11:31 AM

thanks, i saw it posted on cl. i dont have space for it atm, but i couldnt pass it up. Its sitting in the driveway on a pallet with a tarp over it. waiting on warmer weather to fill it up outside make sure its not a leaker, but i might just reseal it anyways with the other tanks.

Awesome fish!! I love my feather fin!! He's HUGE!! I never see him though... Only at night if I watch the tank. Sometimes rarely at feeding time. I swear he has blue eyes!

Thanks! He's really cool. He's starting to come out more, thankfully. I built him his own dark cave with a plant in it when I noticed him hanging out in that spot and he seems to be opening up more. He swims around with the catfish a lot. :)

jetajockey 04-19-2013 12:11 AM

I ordered some crypt parva, crypt wendtii 'florida sunset', and about a bazillion fish bags.

Crawdaddy 04-19-2013 05:09 PM

I bought two electric GBR's, 1 male juvenile German red peacock, and a male female pair of nyererei. Not sure of the actual name of them though.

bthomas 04-21-2013 08:03 PM

Just got the 150 gallon home. (Originally thought it was a 180 --don't people know its not good to guesstimate a tanks measurements? ) very excited to get it started! Still have to buy sand and clean found rocks & cycle. but already thinking of stock possibilities :)!!!

Riot84 04-21-2013 08:32 PM

Got 45 pounds of sand, salt mix, hydrometer, and an aqueon 500 circulation pump for the 37 gal I'm doing.

Convict2161 04-21-2013 08:35 PM

Picked up this stuff to scape a buddy's tank.

Yeah, I have a rule about mixing alcohol and eBay, myself. Same goes for Drs. Foster and Smith.

All I picked up today was some bags for shipping and a little bottle of excel. Payed twice what I would have if I got it online, but I do like supporting my LFS. They do nice things for me like give me bags and rubber bands for shipping!

Sounds like a good trade off to me! I buy what I can from LFS, they don't always have what I want available to them so that's when I go online. Most other stuff I get from them. All of my fish have come from LFS and I haven't had any problems. The few I have had problems with, they are awesome about switching fish out so things go ok. So glad I have a LFS like I do :)

Sillyfishies 04-21-2013 10:22 PM

I bought 50 pounds of HTH pool filter sand (highly reccomend). Ended up using 40 pounds into my 26 gallon. It's a tall tank too!

Funny I bought 10 more pounds of Tahitian moon sand. I just don't know where it goes lol. Started with 120 pounds and now added 10 more pounds.

Weekend purchases

Yeah this weekend I drove 45 minutes to the biggest Lfs in Denver and I picked up a used ehiem 2213 for $30 to replace my loud and junky hang on back and some dwarf sagitaria to carpet the bottom of my 55!:dance:

gravereaper0 04-26-2013 03:31 PM

Man the wife's gonna be pissed. There's only 2 suppliers in the US for ADA and one of em is out of stock on half the stuff they're selling, so when I saw the other one is stocked, for now, I bought six 9 liter bags of the new amazonia soil. $84 to ship it which I don't think is that bad considering its 130+ lbs.

bthomas 04-27-2013 10:25 AM

Went out yesterday w the hubby and our two little ones and made a family day of looking for driftwood by the river and collecting piles of slate someone left out there years ago! I have alot of cleaning boiling scrubbing to do to get this 150g up and cycling!

Convict2161 04-27-2013 10:26 AM

I think from now on i will be going on my own! Don't know what's worse the cyberman sitting right in the middle of the tank or that annoying air stone making a noise or when the tube shoots off I'm going insane!
