Moonlight leds

I'm planning on upgrading to a led lighting system for my tank but I'm on a small budget and for the 130.00 to 150.00 price range that I'm looking at I'm not seeing any systems that have the ability to run a strictly moonlight timer. Thus I'm looking into buying a separate moonlight bar and for what I'm wanting to spend most of what I'm seeing are intended to be submersed. Just curious if anyone has experience with these or would recommend it. Just doesn't seem to me like you're replicating nature by putting some bright blue LEDs under water to shine right in the face of fish. Not to mention having to mount it on the back of the tank where not all the light would reach all areas of the tank. Thoughts please?

I think my moonlights are the bars you are talking about but I don't submerge them (for same reasons as your thinking, plus they are cheap Chinese ones that I wouldn't trust underwater!) I just sit them at the back of the tank pointing down. They give a nice blue glow.
