Yeah, UG filters aren't very good to plant roots and the roots will hinder the effectiveness of the UG filter.

I'd look into a good hob filter that you can change the current on. Keeping it low during the day to keep in co2, and turning it up at night since plants don't use the co2 then.

will sponge filter do or will it mess up my plants also.

A box sponge can work but they take up a lot of in-tank space and aren't that efficient. You should really just try the HOB, they're good starters.

HA!!! i tho a HOB filter is something else, feel dumb for a sec here.

so HOB filter r just Power filter

Unless you have really bright light I wouldn't worry about co2. You could always go with a big jug of Flourish Excel. Its a liquid carbon supplement. I have 4 tanks and a 2litre bottle of the stuff, and I don't see myself running out anytime soon.

so u pretty much just use it as it say on the bottle or do u have to do a DIY projec?

Just do what it says on the bottle. Of course, the Excel bottle doesn't have real measuring lines, only the threads of the cap to go by, so I use the measuring cap off of something else that I've already used and thrown away to make things easier.

i dont like how the HOB keep sucking up my plants even with the flow on low.
my moss, sword leaves still getting pull into the tube.

Is your moss tied down securely? You could either move the plants away from the filter, or put a bit of sponge around the filter intake.

my moss not tie, i wanna tie it down with log but not the D.W.
i got no sponge right now.

@B

i got a 10 gallon Fluorescent light
the 2 end of the Fluorescent tube work only, at first i tho. maybe the middle part is dead, so today i went and bought a new Fluorescent tube, put it on/pulg it in. the new Fluorescent tube did the same thing. only 2 end of the tube work.

i think its the starter but im not sure.
hoply it just the starter and not the whole Fluorescent light.

Any type of sponge should work fine as long as its clean, and just cut it so its not too big. I bought a box of the filter foam for an aqua clear filter, and then I cut it to fit around my filter intake. Then I used 2 small rubber bands to hold it around the filter.

As soon as you can, I would get that moss tied down to something. Moss will float around everywhere and take over if you aren't careful, although it does grow very slowly.

I'm not sure about your light. I've never heard of a flourescent tube that only worked on 2 ends and not in the middle. Sorry. Something might be broken?

Your ballast might be broken causing you to under volt the bulbs. OR you are getting bulbs with wattages that are higher than the ballast's rating.

im using a T8 18" 15 watt
so its the ballast and not the starter?
