thanks.. was not a bad price at 0 dollars haha wouldnt have minded some T5s but 0 dollars VS 1000 dollars easy decision

The rock wall looks pretty good. but you are going to have a hard time finding places to put corals. I would build it out a little bit and leave some caves.

you could put an 8 lamp t-5 HO fixture over that tank and be able to keep whatever you wanted under it for under 400 bucks.

maybe ill consider it when these bulbs wear out but free decent lighting will remain just that for now..

Well heres an update.

part of my school of chromi

Current stock list
1 Tomato Clown
1 Saddle Back Clown
12 blue/green chromi
1 powder brown tang
2 blue damsel
1 hoevens wrasse
1 watchmen goby
1 red banded pistol shrimpp
1 copper banded butterfly
10-20 hermit crabs
8-10 serpent stars
30-50 assorted snails
2 sand sifting stars
1 carpet anemone
bunch of coral frags

what do you think?

i think 20 fish is a lot for a 120.
i'm also concerned that you may not have enough light for that anemone. make sure you feed it periodically (maybe 2 x a week).
also, the sand sifting stars are going to starve to death because your sand bed is too new to have enough food in it for them. it will take months.
do you have 8-10 large serpent stars in there? you will need to feed them. they eat prepared foods. you can feed them whatever you feed the fish.

the good news is, all of your frags will do well under that lighting. you can also feed the chalices and the favites too.

to be honest the chromi were origionally for food.. got them pretty dirty cheap but when my eel died they just stuck around. i know it sounds over stocked but weekly my nitrates only rise to 20ppm i do a 10% change and im back to a good range. right now for my serpents i take my syrine and shoot food in the rock and i can see them moving around in there.

as for the anemone ill be keeping my eye on it. i was concerned at the time of purchase but after the guy showed me the light it was under (dual T5s mounted 18 inchs above a 24 inch tank)P . it was there for a few months and seems to have opened up since i brought it home.

the guy at the LFS was telling me how 10 chromis would equal the bioload of 1 mid size trigger... not sure how much truth is to that but i noticed almost no difference in nitrates in the past 2 weeks since i added them

i don't know the bio load of the chromis v.s. the trigger, but he might be right. a medium sized trigger is a slob! LOL.
ok..just saying.....you asked.
are you noticing any aggression between the 2 clowns? i hope the tomato clown doesn't get beat up.

only since i put the anemone in.. the saddle back has turned into a monster the last few days... hes been cooling down progressivly more and more by the day. he even took a shot at the tang.

the tomato had its tail fin nipped 4 days ago.. if i notice any more damage to him ill have to remove him and find him a good home. it would be a shame after i spent so much time and money treating them for brooklynella

yeah, i figured he would want to protect his anemone. i have a maroon in the gym tank i maintain right now that i would love to "catch and release" at the LFS. he's a nasty one. he was ok until i tossed in a green bubble tip.

Love the rock work. Is it against the glass or did you build a rock wall?

its leaning on the glass

Yeah i have a guy thats intrested in paying pretty decent money for clown and the anemone so if he gets too bad i can find him a good home pretty easy. do you think trying to pair him up would lower his agression or just make him completely crazy?

i personally wouldn't add any more clowns at this point. it might go well for you, but then again, it might not accept the other and then kill it.

ive also had other people say that if it accepts the second one they will get even more territorial so i think ill just avoid it

Its funny how things progress
