I used the pump from a HOB filter that I dissembled, the suction side is about a 3/8-1/2" in diameter. 100gph, I don't think it's the powerheads it's more of the fact the fish always swim in the two top corners.

What do you guys think of me taking out my turbo snail? I did a pwc today and I voiced how much poop is on the ground from him! I think he is the messiest in the tank by far, maybe he is doing more harm than good?

The turbo snail is one reason your tank is looking so good.Keep him.

I did a 40% pwc yesterday so the water is looking crystal clear today I'll do another 50% later this week, I really want to get and keep my nitrates down

How much should I put in, I have 6 trays, three layers. Fluval 305

Don't get anymore sand sifting starfish,they usually don't survive very long except in large established tanks,they usually starve.

Ok. I was reading else where that they can starve and decay in the sand bed. No good for my water parameters

I am going to my local coral store today in hope to bring something back. Can anyone recommend a good beginner coral?

I already have some mushrooms and polyps.

you might try some Ricordea or mushrooms, GSP some of the ric's have great colors

I'm going to attempt to frag some of my red mushrooms this weekend, been looking at videos and looks like I just cut right down the center. Wish me luck!

Nitrates are down to 5 after a 50% pwc and adding the Searchem matrix. I'm not going to change it because it will get too expensive so ill just rinse it everytime I clean the canister.

My friend also found this star fish, what so you guys think of me putting him in my tank?!

Fraged my first coral!

Those red mushrooms grow so fast! He attached to a rock in two days and doubled size. I want to do my green mushroom but I'm a little nervous since I only have one
