Hat fertilizers should I get for my plants. I was told to get alot of products by seachem such as flourish and a couple others named flourish something. Also should I do a diy co2? This is a lowlight 20g tank

in a lowlight tank... you probably wont need any... obviously, it depends on how many plants are in there, but with weekly water changes and some nitrates, you'll probably not see any deficiencies. If you do, a shot of flourish comprehensive will probably take care of any deficiencies you have.

Ok so all I need is flourish? I was told to get comprehensive and excel and iron or something like that.

I use flourish excel daily and flourish comprehensive weekly. I use root tabs under my swords but thats it. I have had no problems and my tanks have been up and going for months.

Can someone please tell me if this is correct?
mdfrookie gave you great advice. He knows what he is talking about.

So should I just use flourish? Or flourish comprehensive? What about excel or iron?would a diy co2 be overkill ?

i use flourish exel (by seachem) in my low light tank. i dose daily (one cap full). does the trick for me. i have java fern, java moss, moss balls and nana's and 2 small and 2 large moss balls. i've been using it for about 6 months. my plants are very green and healthy.

Well I was told to use all those products . I'm very confused anyone else want to chime in?

Excel is not a fertilizer... And, there's no way to say anything is all you need... every tank is different. As I said, you most likely won't even have to dose any.

So I don't need anything. Maybe just some flourish? Or is it flourish comprehensive? What about a diy co2will this help? I plan on planting this tank pretty heavily.

I am not sure how much light you have on your tank but lights, ferts, and carbon are need to grow plants....

Carbon comes from CO2 or Excel...if you have low light then Excel is enough, many dose just every other day...I dose everyday

Ferts are needed to supply the necessary nutrients, Macro and Micro. If you have low light, they may not need much.

Light is important and the two determining factors are you photo period, length of time the lights are on and the amount of light you pour on your tank. The more light, the faster the plant grows, the more you need carbon and nutrients of both kinds.

Also some plants take their nutrients through their roots and others from the water column, the water.

If you plant heavily, excel probably cannot give you enough carbon so you would to inject CO2 which is a different game and you would probably need to improve your lights as well depending on the plants you choose.

I chose to do low light plants . I believe it's 15 watts on a 20 gallon so it is very low light. So what should I buy. How expensive is this stuff. So I would need flourish comp. And excel? What about iron or etch?

If I were you, I would research low light plants at plantgeek.com. Get them and see how they go for a couple of weeks. They will probably grow slowly but if they start to brown or die, then you could add some excel or ferts. You can research different problems with plants as they occur...people here have a website that describes different problems.

Most people start with low lights and then the realize that plants either want faster growing plants or different plants so they get better lights and go on with the process.

Iva had them a week and they Are already browning a little. Doesn't seem like they are doing very well.

In my experience, most plants need a couple of weeks adjustment...my spiralis melts when I move it and then new shoots come out which is probably the same with all my plants except Java Moss.
