I have a bristlenose pleco and two Raphael catfishes in the tank. 75 gallons how many male peacocks would u put in there? I'm using a filstar xp3 and a emperor 400. Have cichlid sand and "cichlid stones"

14-16 lightly stocked
17-20 medium
21-24 heavily stocked

This is imo they are still aggressive just not as aggressive then mbuna, well sometimes. Just make sure you look up profiles for each fish to match aggressiveness.

Looking to order the peacock/hap assortment from livefishdirect. Has anyone ordered this assortment from them before? And thanks for the reply

I thought about doing an assortment from them. But then I didn't because I wanted to pick my own mix. I would email them and ask as many questions as you can. Because most haps get really big and in that case you would need to lower the numbers I posted above. I don't see how they can do that when they don't even know the tank size. But they are pretty good about emailing back.

i emailed them at live fish direct and they said without the bristlenose and two raphael catfish i could put 25 of them in my 75 gallon from the "peackock/hap" assortment. seems like alot i was thinking maybe doing 15 with my bristlenose and two raphaels. what do you think andrew? i just cant beat the price of 19.99 each for 3 inch all males. the local fish store has small ones and not much variety. i was wanting all males thinking this would cut down on fighting over women and of course they look nicer.

I deleted there stocking levels kinda like what I gave you. They sent it to you after you order from them. 25 seems a little high to me I just wonder if that's their heavy stock for a 75. It will probably be ok as I droped my numbers from a mbuna article I'm writing since they are haps and peacocks. I can tell you that they say 3" but more than likely they will be a smaller. I've ordered 2 inch fish from them and I recieved 1" fish. But they grow fast so I didn't complain. I would aim for my middle stock guide above as I think it would be ok asking as they don't sent you a bunch of haps that get 7+ inches.

this is the fish i went with. I went ahead and looked at all the fish here to see what their potential sizes would be. like you said it would suck if they loaded me up with a bunch of haps that all get to be 9 inches. was fun picking them out also. might end up with some females but oh well.

waiting for a moderator to approve it so it should show up here soon

yes it currently house a 4 inch convict, 4 inch jack dempsey, 3 inch jewel, and a 4 inch random african cichild. aslo a bristlenose pleco and two raphael. the plan is to remove the 4 cichlids the day before the other fish arrive and do a 50% water change. want to keep them in there till then so the bioload is good for the new fish. luckily i have a friend thats going to take the 4 chiclids off my hands.

this whole thing comes about do to a compromise i made with my wife lol i wanted to get a 125 gallon tank for the basement but she said i couldnt spend that much money but i could spend this much on new fish instead of the tank.
lol

well all 17 peackocks/haps arrived today alive and well. they are packaged individually which made for easy floating of the bags. only negative is that some of them are kinda small. havent got a good look at them yet. they hide when the lights are on but all of them are out and swimming tonight with the lights off. i even put the smallest amount of food in just to see if they would respond and they all did. pretty satisfied so far with live fish direct but wont know for sure for a few days once they all calm down and are out in the daylight. ill post some pics once everything is settled.

Glad to hear they all came in well! Good luck with them, i love peacocks.

well i had to re home the ob peacock hybrid. he was the biggest fish in the tank and a big bully. had to take all the rocks out and half the water to get him. but already the other fish are swimming freely instead of hiding in the corners. sucks to have to get rid of a 25 dollar fish but its already worth it.
