I just bought a fish yesterday a Platy and I thing she's pregnant I've been doi g some research but I don't know what to do I also think she might have a baby Platy coming out soon plz help
PS. She's housed with a betta and sword tail in a 2.5 gallon

That is not enough room for those types of fish. You should have atleast a ten gallon tank for them. If the platy is pregant then you are going to find you have more fish than you can handle in that small of a tank. Is the betta male or female?

Idk dragon scale female I think

Still not enough room for the fish plus the fry. It is said for every inch of fish but some poeple say more gallon to inch ratio. I would suggest getting a bigger tank anyway because with the fry it will be likly that unless you move the fry to thier own tnank they will get eaten by the others.

Firstly your going to need another tank the cycle the new tank or you could try puting her in a breeding net but your tank is way to small for those fish u should get a 20 gallon or more if y want the babies to live if not just get a 10 gallon

Thx so much another question when do they give birth I just got a five gallon and moved betta hers her in a breeders net

Hi everyone im new to this on my own and thought i would go out and buy my very first tank only expecting to buy a gold fish, however that all changed when i went to purchase my new fish for my tank they ask for the liters which is 20 and the snubbed myself and my partner for even thinkin about putting a gold fish into it, they suggested the.varitus platy which where.sold.has temperate fish which sounded great at the time so we agreed we were then told to select any from there variaty so we simply chose and was on way, All night we.spent watching them fight mainly my big yellow tail one rip into my poor red one thats when i started doing some research and found i needed a ratio of 1 male to 3-5females and that was that.i simply demanded they take the agresive one back and exchange him for a female and whille i was there i explained it to.the lady who pointed out two females to me so i accepted them both and got an orange one to go with.it, however recently ive been carrying on with my research and discoverd the.two she suggested are pregnant, the fry would die without a heater, and that i needed to seperate the mothers.from the fry , my tank is already nearly overstocked i think and im to soft to let the fry die so i have.arranged for a bigger new tank to be made by my uncoe who makes tanks but my question is when will they give birth to her fry she is big and square oh and is pooping loads is this normal

well i decided to put both my platys in a breeding box seperated but so they where behaving viciously so i read up some mofe and heard if you put them in to soon they can terminate the pregnancy and if they dont termanate they can give birth to dead fry so i amediatly removed them and now im worried that the fry will get eaten any sugestions ?,

Once you get your big tank get the rest of ur fish in there and put a lot of plants in the small tank and put the female which are pregnant in their the babies will naturally hide and most won't get eaten but you have to take the females after they give birth fast!!!!

I dont think there gunna wait till then i think my first one is ready to drop i think, has ive just noticed a black dot near her sex fin i think is a dorsel fin

Put her in the breeder box then after she has the babies put the babies in a large container(ice cream box) and feed them crushed flake food or you can buy something called first bite fry love them and its the best for them :$

to say ive never seen this before i was nearly dancing for joy one of my females gave birth to 28 babies just cant believe it new tank is a prioroty
