I have the net and the one where the fry falls to the bottom. The net one has 7 little fry. I have a pregnant fish to. Should I move the fry to the plastic one or should I put the mother in it?

I usually let the female birth in the big tank, then I gently bet out the fry and put them in my net box. It really stresses the fish when you put them in the small boxes. People say the net ones are better. I think they let water circulate better and food waist can drop out the bottom better. It is really personal preference. The net one will grow algae if you keep it in your tank for a long.

I would use the plastic one to let the mother give birth in and the net to raise the fry in........

I wish I could do that, but my fish always freak out when they are in that small of a space.
If that's the case, I would let her stay in the tank. One of my guppies does the same but I put her in the box just before lights out and she doesn't react as bad...

I may try that next time. Maybe overnight in the dark will get her use to it.

Yeah, that's why they usually give birth during the night(but not always) because the tank is quiet and dark. Other fishmates are 'sleeping' so it gives the fry a chance to escape, if they were in the open tank. I suppose that's the way it happens in the wild. That's my theory anyway!!!

It's a if because in a other thread we debated on if she's is actually pregnant. But she was getting chased around in the big tank. She seems happy by her self! Pretty calm!:)

Ok here you go
