Here goes it guys! first biocube is kicked off!

Put some live rock in tonight...the rock was definatly not cured../had alot of die off..the guy had thrm in trash bins with saltwater and no light for who knows how long..but got some great pieces for 50 bucks! I didnt scrub tmen though..should I have? I figured the die off will be good to get my cycle kicking!

You're right, the die off will only help your cycle. As for scrubbing it that is completely up to you. It doesn't hurt to scrub it but IMO I find it tedious work. When it is time for your clean up crew is when that will get taken care of.

You can is you would like. It certainly wouldn't hurt anything if you did.

Yep, your call on whether to add another ammonia source. Keep in mind the higher the ammonia goes the more "solid" of a cycle so it's not a bad thing.

Yes, it will stink up a room pretty good from what I hear. I use pure ammonia when i cycle so I dont deal with the oozie mess of a shrimp and the odor. lol

I just bought my pico evolve but am already thinking of selling it off. i am sooo bad sometimes......Just picked up a 180g today too lol....

It's not gonna be a very pleasant smell lol, you might wanna save getting chewed out and try to sneak in an air freshener or something. The smell isn't too bad but it is noticeable, especially in a room with very little air flow. STAY away from fish stores . They only tempt an already fragile patients lol. The waiting game is the hardest part of this hobby...

Do it ! Clowns are the best! Just be careful stocking your tank. For the size biocube you have the clowns will pretty much be all that you can fit comfortable and healthy in there. Maybe a 3rd smaller fish.

When I dose pure ammonia i add a couple capfuls to the tank and test about an hour later. When you hit 4ppm then youre good to go. It works just like the raw shrimp but I never noticed a stink and you dont have the residue that a rotting shrimp will leave behind. If you didnt put the shrimp in a panythose or knee hi stocking you should do it now. lol It will keep the goo together when you go to remove the decaying shrimp.

What size biocube is this? I dont see it mentioned in this thread?

Its a 29..the shrimps currently hanging from a seaweed clippy doey thingy. Lol. I figured when he falls off from rotting I'll remove him
