Tested the flow rate today and it came out to 140 gph. I also ordered sand, salt, hygrometer,ro unit, test kits, circulation pumps, and skimmer. Man my wallet hurts lol

Thanks man the ro unit was only 68 bucks. They were out of di attachment hopefully it'll be fine. Everything just added up plus I just ordered lights. Everything I need is bought though and only went over my 500 dollar budget by 100 bucks.

I don't really no how I feel about it maybe I'll like it better when I have it completely set up

Working on it. My plan was to put live rock rubble in the refugium. Would this work just as well as putting it in the display?

That's a question I can't really answer! I imagine it would work just about the same. People add the rubble to the refugium for more bacteria surface area if I'm not mistaken!

I'm going to try it I don't see how it would be any different. I'm probably only going to use a few pounds since I'm going to let it cycle til I get back from vacation in June so the extra time it will take won't be a problem.

then I wouldn't add any! Just let it cycle with a dead shrimp in a filter sock or panty hose. That way when you get back, if it's still not cycled, you can add the rubble

That sounds like a good idea. I may just add some base rock rubble in the refugium. Sweet thing about having a 10 gallon sump on a 20 gallon is I can run the the sump water level 2 inches from the top so I have a lot of room lol

So the skimmer doesn't fit in the sump and the heater doesn't either :-(. I guess my sump is just a refugium now. The skimmer is working great right out of the box so I guess that counts for something.
