Hi,
I am doing a Flourite base with 1/2 of sand on top. I want light colored sand. My only option is Home Depot, what brand should I get?
Thanks

In my experience, it doesn't matter too much. Just ask if you can open a bag and check for dampness and make sure they dont have fungicides or something and you should be good after like 20 rinses XD

Pool filter sand at a pool supply store, cheap, clean and looks good.

I paid 6.99 for 50 pounds of pool filter sand

Okay I don't think the parents will let me get sand. These are my gravel choices and I want cories.
Also I want it to contrast well with plants and the driftwood in the background-

If you have a hammer, you could smash it on a sheet and rinse it a bunch to get the dust away XD

Not sure how well that will work.. Others will have to chime in on that.

However, if you want sand, you could try!

Lol I actually put that stuff in- ain't it just gorjeus? ( gotta say that like goooorrrr juice lol)

Lol good point. Sometimes it is just cloudy though. Shouldnt matter since their is no rush, SPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO CYCLE! :p

Yes I rinsed rinsed rinsed and I'm going fish in cycle because I have no room for two tanks.

With play sand you want to rinse it first until the water is clear otherwise your in for alot of water changes playsand has a lot of dust and debris all of my tanks have it roughly total 100lbs worth spread out through 3 tanks all of the sand took me maybe and hour to an hour and half cleaning in a tote with a hose. Very much worth doing once i did that my water was never once cloudy

It's fluorite not sand

Nope fluorite. It's evidently nasty stuff- I will have to rinse way better next time. I do want sand but how would I go about putting in sand after this stuff is already there?
