You for certain have seen pond snails eat plants? What is the definition of taking over?

Ramshorms are said to possibly eat plants. Ive never seen it either. I've kept both for at least 30 yrs and never seen it in my tanks. Some people idea of taking over is 10. But 150 in a tank your size is good imo.

You would think with few hundred in a 10g full of plants they would munch away

I'll show you pics of snails eating my anubias, common pond snails no, ramshorn are monster plant munchers man

Ramshorn snails generally will eat only the most delicate plants, preferring algae, uneaten fish food, and dead fish. Some varieties do particularly enjoy eating the leaves of stem plants such as cabomba and anacharis.

Any of them CAN. But the likelihood is low. Like any living thing could you get one that has a pension for live plants ...sure. Never had an issue nor has anyone convinced me 100 percent that pond rams or mts ate their plants.

You can win lol. I dont get into it on forums. Try not to get into opinions or issues where the outcome wont be positive.

I have had both MTS and ramshorn invasions. Separate instances thankfully. Once you realize they are multiplying like crazy and cut back on the feeding, then they will resort to trying to eat anything as opposed to stave. Including my mystery snails!
In my situation I am trying to feed my Mystery snails so that made it almost impossible to not feed everything else. I had to tear the tank apart and wage war to get control. I still keep a few MTS and ponds with my ramshorns. But in a dedicated tank to control their numbers. If they are fed small amounts regularly they leave the plants alone.

I never feed them. One thing I think is important is to have heavy plant mass. So they have plenty to scavenge. Even if its only biofilm.

Lmmfao, you remember that post TMaier, I was frustrated as all heck, I had so many pm's saying I'll take them lol

You just can't turn your back on a snail. It's capable of SNAILSPLOSIONS.
That word should be in Websters.

I counted tonight for yall. I quit at 245. Some counted twice but lots not counted ill say 300 in my 10g

They infested my tanks, snails and eggs everywhere.

Thats one my points. That not what id call infested. See your plant mass. I have very few on glass at any given time. Snail population vs plant mass need to be considered. If you have minimum of 50 percent mass (75 better) they would stay out of sight and stay busy keeping tank tidy.
