What type of flower pot coral?

I was in the chatroom the other night and was dismayed to hear that I
may have a flowerpot that is doomed even though it seems very healthy to me. Aaron, does this look like the type of coral you were talking about? I seem to remember it being said that some varieties do better than others.
Does anyone have any feedback on this?

Yep, looks like one of those Indonesian metallic green Gonipora's. They have a tremendously bad track record I think the reds are better, but all gonipora are considered advaced to expert corals. You may consider PM'ing Alf. He has kept several goniporas successfully for a few years. I have also read that goniporas tend to do better as multiples, but my feelings are that if one is doomed, why add to the problem....

yep. you can tell by the number of little appendages on the end of each arm.

its got many more than 12 per arm so its the hard to keep variety.

Good luck. to my knowledge the exact care requirements are still basicly unknown.

Gonipora have 24 tentacles on the end of each polyp, Alveapora have 12 tentacles on the end of each polyp. Both are considered advanced to expert corals and both tend to suffer the same fate.

i know 3 people that have great success with red goniapora. its is pretty pricey. i have had bad luck with green goniapora and alvapora also.
