I clip them from the top and they are fine and even grow new tops.
There growth slowed a bit.
Replanting tops seems to take a long time to get roots and my substrate is sand so I just dispose of the tops.
Does anybody feed with the lights off?
Seems the Cories and Pleco like night feeding and the mid and top feeders dont hunt the bottom for food letting the bottom feeders eat in peace.

I never had a barbell problem with 7.8 pH 0 ammo and nitrate and 20 nitrate with 1/3 weekly wcs, Since the sand went in the tank.

I had some lose theirs, it happens in gravel.
Now they are in sand substrate and very happy:D with all their barbells and also love to sift sand through their gills.
