    Bio Magnet Clarifier

We love the sand substrate. We actually ordered online @ 19.99 I think, but when we paid 54.00 for the shipping, we only saved about 2.00/bag. The cichlid sand will keep you @ a steady 8ph regardless of the driftwood since it has very small affect on Ph. So for me, it was money well spent.

They are very interesting... I will need to look around for floating plants first. Thanks for the idea:-) I will give it serious consideration...

    Top Dwellers

Wondering if I would be able to put 5 male swordtails in my tank. I currently have 5 tiger barbs, 6 algae eaters, 3 clown loach, and 5 electric yellows. The mid to bottom areas have come together nicely, and I am trying to make the top portion more colorful and balanced.....

    Kuhlis in the filter!!!

These are the pre-filters I'm using and they work great... There is very little interference with water flow and they limit cleanings of the main filter...

    Fighting ongoing algae battle

That's OK then... Once you get everything greened up the way you want, you should be able to cut back to the minimum nutrient; or at least decrease by 25% increments to help reduce that algae growth...

    Fighting ongoing algae battle

Why don't you try cutting back a little on your plant nutrition in the future due to this could be feeding the algae growth (phosphorous) . It doesn't matter if the plant grows fast or slow; as long as it isn't dieing. If the plant looks dull and "droopy" then you step up the feeding. Otherwise...

Sorry, you can soak in dechlored water or if you have big enough bucket; rinse and scrub in the bucket of dechlored water after the boiling process...

    Kuhlis in the filter!!!

Lol... DIY can be great sometimes:-) If you already have the sponge, at least you won't lose any money and you will be able to see if it works out for you...... Good luck!

    Feeding Shrimp

Hi everyone... Wanted to know if anyone has used the cooked salad shrimp as a fish food. I don't want to use totally raw, so wondered if this would be safe to use. I have 5 electric yellow, 5 tiger barbs, 3 clown loach and 6 algae eaters. I have fed them frozen bloodworms, algae wafers and...

are prefilters worth it? are they a pain? do they clog

I have 2 AC 110's on my aquarium and I use pre-filters on both uptake tubes. I have sand substrate and the filters keep the sand out. It also keeps a lot of detritus from your main sponges which will help out when it is time for cleaning. I haven't noticed a significant decrease in the flow...
