im planning on getting a pair of jewel cichlids and i was wondering how well will a school of corydoras maybe panda corys or some peppered corys will do in the tank? will they get picked on?

ive been fish less cycling my 40 gallon for 3 weeks now and in the 1st week ammonia 5ppm nitrite and nitrates 0. i seeded my tank with 3 gallons of water from my friends establish tank and a filter cartridge. the next day i had nitrite and nitrates. now my ammonia goes down to from 4ppm to 1 ppm...

how well would i pictus catfish do in the 40 with other fish? will it eat small fish like tetras ?

i like the second scenario you are going for i might do a similar one with the rainbow sharks and the 2 rams.

i like the idea for the 2 german blue rams!!... and i have white sand in mine i have a friend that has black sand and it look great too! i was also thinking about putting in a peacock eel.

i thought about community and also like larger fish i also want some bottom feeders corys or some shrimp. but mainly want ideas for a community or larger fish hopefully with some idea i can get inspired and make up my mind between community or larger fish:)
