Pets at Home (UK nationwide pet store)

I went to a brand new PAH at Birstall, Leeds yesterday. It's on 2 floors and massive. The downstairs area was excellent, loads of giant cages for rodents and all the animals seemed happy. So, I had high hopes as i went upstairs to the aquarium section. Unfortunately, as I looked round there dead...

That's interesting about the specialists at POH. I guess I may have been in on their days off....or after they finish as I have normally been just before closing. Where abouts is the Maidenhead aquatics in York? Sounds like it's worth a visit.

    UK?

I've found that although the staff are nice their knowledge levels are really pathetic. They ask all these standard questions before filling in their little form although none of the questions are particularly relevant. Also, if you give a "wrong" answer it doesn't seem to make difference...

Pets at Home (UK nationwide pet store)

Cheers Rich, It matches my experience too. The amount of dead fish i've seen in their tanks is a disgrace. I've found a decent indie dealer up here, it's a bit more of a drive definitely worth it

Pets at Home (UK nationwide pet store)

Hi guys, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on Pets at Home when compared to Aquarium specialists? For me, they always seem friendly but knowledge levels seem poor (especially after reading some of the posts and articles on here) and I have seen many tanks with dead fish in and...

    Double Filtering?

Hi guys, Following a post yesterday I've found out that my mollies are thought in some circles to be a little waste heavy for my 12 gallon tank. What is everyone's thoughts on adding a 2nd filter to help cope with the bioload? If this would work, would it cycle easily with the help of the...

Sorry, think I've added to the confusion. There have been fish in the tank for 6 months, the Mollies and Barbs from the begininning and added the Golden Wonders and Dwarf Guarami's about 2 months ago.

    Fighter Issue

Oh ok, The filter's been running for 6 months so thought it would be well established and the testing kit said the readings were ok?!?!? I'll have a read of the cycling article. Really appriciate your help. :-)

    Fighter Issue

Hi LyndaB, Thanks for the reply. I think it is the Betta, in the UK they're called Siamese Fighting Fish. It was a new Fish and added to a 12 Gallon tank alongside 4 Golden Bards, 4 Mollies and 2 Golden Panchax. NO3 is 0.1, NO2 is 0.2, PH is 7.2 and KH is 6.
