    BN Pleco eating snails

Here is a picture of the hole in the snail's operculum. He is now dead. :( Most of my other snails do not have this. I'll keep watching to see if the pleco bothers any of the others...

    BN Pleco eating snails

Yes, there is driftwood in the tank. :-) One of the deceased snails had a chunk detached from the rest of its body and shell. It couldn't have been dead too long because I check before and after work to make sure everybody is okay. I had blamed the pleco because I saw him on a snail (on its...

    BN Pleco eating snails

LOL...I do like the Incredible Hulk. But I really like my snails too! I have never seen a pleco act as aggressively as this one. He charges at other fish, flashing his dorsal fin, and I've seen him knock snails off algae wafers. Got him when we was about 2" and he was such a cute baby...

    BN Pleco eating snails

Hi all, I've caught my 3.5" Bristlenose Pleco trying to eat one of my Mystery Snails. He affixed himself to its operculum and I guess just rasps a hole into them. Two died before I knew what was happening, both had holes in their operculums. I feed algae wafers, sinking veggie tablets...

    Mystery snail eggs

Hello all, Does anyone know how long it takes an entire clutch of mystery snail eggs to hatch? I have a clutch that a few babies hatched from, but a few days later, there are still a lot of eggs there. I'm not sure how long to leave it on the glass before removing it. Also, if an egg on the...

    Mystery snail questions

Reactivating this thread with more questions and some excitement... Our female snail laid eggs this morning!! So we may have babies in our future. The eggs are fairly close to the filter intake, and I'm a bit concerned that when the babies come out they might get sucked in. The intake has a...

    Stocking suggestions?

Thanks, Coursair. Both of my kids love the tank! Subliminalme, No final decision yet, but I'm leaning toward a group of Neon Tetras in the short term, and a gourami in the future. I've checked Aqadvisor and if I trust it, it's doable. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Honey Gouramis at the LFS. :-)

    Stocking suggestions?

I'm amazed the construction paper background has lasted as long as it has. I'll see if there's some black paper and try it out. Thanks for the suggestion! Will look into Neon Tetras and other small schooling fish. Even if they're not "real" fish. ;-)

    Stocking suggestions?

Coursair, your tank is gorgeous! Here is my tank. I feel embarrassed to post it after yours--please keep in mind it is in a 6yo's room and therefore intended to be...not realistic. :-) I may do real plants eventually. The flourescent light in the tank is old and probably should be replaced...

    Stocking suggestions?

I've thought about tetras, but they'd need a school bigger than 3 fish, correct? My daughter would LOVE a betta. She's a bit obsessed. :-)

    Stocking suggestions?

Hello all, Looking for suggestions for 2-3 more fish for our 20g high tank. Currently, we have 2 female platies, 1 (very cute baby) bristlenose pleco, and 3 mystery snails. For what it's worth, AqAdvisor says the stocking level is currently 68%. I'd rather not do any more livebearers, but I'm...
