    I would not do neon tetras in this size tank, besides I wouldn't call them an 'interesting fish'. How about Indostomus sp.?

    It is a bloated male. It has a gonopodium so it's impossible for it to be pregnant.

    A DG would be OK. Serpae tetras can be nippy, so can tiger barbs, but TBs need a bigger tank as mentioned. I would do this: 6 cherry barbs 6 neon tetras 6 albino/bronze cories 1 dwarf gourami

    Guppies aren't schooling fish, they don't need groups of 6, but the other two (barbs and tetras) do. What specific types of these fish were you looking at? Welcome to the forum!

    Yes, a honey gourami would be an option as a centerpiece as well, they are more peaceful than DGs.
